چکیده
Objectives To culture Malassezia and other fungi from the duodenum of dogs with gastrointestinal signs undergoing routine endoscopic examination. Materials Methods Quantitative microbial was performed on duodenal juice aspirated suspected enteropathy during upper endoscopy; samples were cultured Sabouraud's dextrose agar (30, 32 37°C) modified Dixon (32°C) for 14 days. Isolates identified phenotypically by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionisation-time flight, internal transcribed spacer sequencing. Yeast presence also evaluated cytological histopathological examination smears biopsy specimens. Results Forty-five recruited chronic inflammatory (n=38), granulomatous colitis (n=2), gastric adenocarcinoma small cell lymphoma (n=1) idiopathic severe haemorrhage (n=2). Fungi dogs: pachydermatis isolated eight [chronic (n=7) (along Candida albicans n=1); (n=1)] sympodialis another (gastric adenocarcinoma). Five yielded yeasts (C. albicans, glabrata, Kazachstania slooffiae, telluris, Pichia kudriavzevii [syn. C. krusei]). Yeasts never observed in Fluorescent microscopical specimens showed yeast only one case, which K. slooffiae subsequently isolated. Clinical Significance Based a literature search, this is first report isolation M. pachydermatis, sympodialis, telluris canine duodenum. Further studies are needed to determine whether these resident or transient their has pathogenic effect host.

investigation revealed that this advice was also given to patients attending for other procedures, such as barium enema and bronchoscopy. These concerns were due to the risks associated with insulin deficiency and the likely counterregulatory hormone response in these patients. An additional concern was that if a DSN was contacted for advice, the advice varied depending on the individual DSN as...

متن کاملRisk Management for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in Elderly Patients: Questionnaire for Patients Undergoing Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
More elderly patients now undergo gastrointestinal endoscopy following recent advances in endoscopic techniques. In this study, we conducted a high-risk survey of endoscopies in Japan, using a questionnaire administered prior to upper gastrointestinal tract endoscopy (UGITE), and identified anticholinergic agents and glucagon preparations as high-risk premedication. We also evaluated the cardio...
